WHAT NOT TO EXPECT IN YOUR MAILBOX _______________________________________________________________________________ No junk e-mail. (Of course opinions about our E-Zine differ :) Our mailing lists will not be sold, rented, or otherwise made available to any other party without your permission, and in fact at this time we have no plans to do so at all. WHAT TO EXPECT IN YOUR MAILBOX _______________________________________________________________________________ You have subscribed to either the plain TEXT version or the World Wide Web HTML version of Netsurfer Tools. Here is what you can expect to receive. All files will be in the range of 15K-25K in length. o One issue of Netsurfer Tools every two weeks. o If the volume of e-mail to us justifies it, once per month, a Letters to the Editor e-mail. You talk to us, we talk back to you. Nobody gets hurt. o Netsurfer Marketplace, delivered to your mailbox approximately every other week, where companies which you may be interested in deliver their message. This is our low key alternative to blatant, in your face advertising which we all can do without. We assume our readers are mature enough to understand that in the real world of bills and taxes a business such as this can't survive without sponsors. Thus the goal is to deliver this material in a non-intrusive and clearly marked manner on the assumption that you are interested in who is offering what online. Read it at your leisure or delete it, it's part of the package, and both we and the sponsors will be interested in your reaction to it. That's it. Our goal throughout is not to clutter up your mailbox with noisy and irrelevant material. All of us here at Netsurfer Publishing get tons of e-mail and we know how it feels to deal with it. We therefore will consciously try to keep our presence in your mailbox on the level of about three readable items per week. BOUNCED MAIL AND OTHER PROBLEMS _______________________________________________________________________________ We've been doing this long enough to know that there are a number of problems which crop up over and over again either due to factors beyond our control or due to our dizzy growth rate. Most businesses wouldn't tell you about them, but we will, since we figure you are smart enough to understand what's going on. o On any given mass mailing we get between 5%-10% bounced E-mail. This means our software tried to deliver to your address but could not. Some of the reasons we've seen why this happens: - Your machine or mailing software was down when mail delivery was attempted; - Your file system was full; - Your address changed; - A machine between yours and ours in the chain of mail delivery failed, or was down; - Our mailing software acted up for unknown reasons; or - A conspiracy involving aliens, Elvis, and the Trilateral Commission wanted to prevent _you_ from learning the truth. If you can't connect, please try again later. o Link problems on a small minority of the links in our HTML version. While we make every effort to verify that the links work, we frequently report on very new sites which tend to move in their early days.
