The ten most popular and three least popular files this month: This Last #times File month Month retrieved name ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 1 - 71 pqf/pqf-x.x 2 1 42 misc/cripple-mr-onion 3 - 41 pqf/just-so-quotes 4 2 29 apf/apf-5.0 5 - 29 pqf/icequote-1.0.shar 6 5 27 misc/bibliography 7 4 21 misc/faq 8 6 18 gifs/900/GoodOmens.900.gif 9 7 16 gifs/900/TheColourOfMagic.900.gif 10 38 15 gifs/900/Diggers.900.gif . . . . . . . . . . . . 59 57 3 apf/apf-5.0-US.ps 60 56 3 gifs/900/Wings.900.gif 61 - 1 apf/amiga/apf-5.0.guide ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Discussion: The Pratchett Quote File has obviously been the hit of the month, outranking even the ever-popular Cripple Mr Onion file. Since there have been five different versions of the PQF, I just concatenated all the accesses together and removed the duplicate hosts -- that should keep the statistics fair. Why the Diggers GIF file has suddenly become so popular (when at the same time the Wings GIF file scores 60th) is, as usual, completely beyond me. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Cumulative statistics: in the entire period that the archive has been active (Jan - Apr), 355 different hosts accessed the archive, retrieving a total of 2134 files (422 Mb). The overall ten most popular and three least popular files so far: This Last #times File month Month retrieved name ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 1 4 90 misc/cripple-mr-onion 2 3 79 apf/apf-5.0 3 - 71 pqf/pqf-x.x 4 2 65 apf/apf-rejections 5 5 65 gifs/900/GoodOmens.900.gif 6 9 63 misc/bibliography 7 1 62 apf/apf-5.0.tex 8 8 62 misc/faq 9 6 58 apf/apf-5.0-A4.ps 10 7 54 gifs/900/ReaperMan.900.gif . . . . . . . . . . . . 59 56 16 gifs/480/Truckers.480.gif 60 54 16 gifs/480/Wings.480.gif 61 - 1 apf/amiga/apf-5.0.guide ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Discussion: As you'd expect, the cumulative chart shows less turmoil than the monthly one, though the PQF enters high. Many people who connected to retrieve the PQF also picked up a copy of the APF, but the LaTeX version was scarcely touched, which accounts for its drop on the list. Good Omens, finally, remains the most popular cover GIF, both short-term and long-term. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Final comments: - these statistics are based solely on the ftp logs at my Pratchett Archive mother site here in the Netherlands. I have no way of knowing how many files were retrieved from my three mirror sites in America and Australia. - README files were not counted, and neither were transfers to the aforementioned mirror sites. -- Leo Breebaart (leo @ cp.tn.tudelft.nl)
