From: cate3.osbu_north@xerox.com (Henry Cate III) Subject: ftp server for the Life series Date: 17 Feb 93 01:30:18 GMT It's nice to be back on the net. It's been several months since I was able to post to rec.humor. It looks like I should be on for awhile. So if you like the Life series, which is mostly a collection of clean stuff which was posted years ago, I'll be around for awhile. If you don't like the Life series, put "Life " in your kill file. For those of you who want the whole collection, my brother has created an ftp server at: furmint.nectar.cs.cmu.edu And the files are stored in the "jokes" directory. The collection is currently about 4.5 Meg of clean humor. The format is simple text mail files for Xerox's Development Environment (XDE) and when I get the time I may go back and make it a more generic format. But for now, the files have some obnoxious header information in them for each batch. Since there are over a hundred thousand people who read or skim rec.humor, if you do decide to get a copy of the Life series, could you please wait until the day your birthday is falls in February or March? This way my brother's workstation may survive. For example if your birthday is the 17th of May, go ahead and ftp the collection tomorrow. But if your birthday is the 13th of October, please wait until the 13th of March to ftp the Life files. Hopefully this way the load will not be too bad. Have a good day.
