The quantity prices apply to orders of assorted buttons as well as to orders of the same button. Buttons from the catalogue are printed in advance, so I don't offer a choice of paper color, etc. on them, but if there are colors that you particularly do or don't want, let me know, and I'll try to accommodate you. If you send artwork or photographs to be made into buttons, the price is the same as the catalogue button price. The visible part of the button is a 2 3/8" circle, and the whole thing should be on a 2 3/4" circle to allow some margin for folding under the edge. If you're ordering a few buttons, please use the abbreviations in parentheses after the slogans. (The order blanks are just for your conveniance, so if you want to send in an order and don't have an order blank, a letter is ok.) If you're ordering a lot of buttons, just check off what you want in the catalogue and send it back to me--I'll send you a fresh copy with your order. Catalogues cost $2 (refundable with your order) by mail, or free by e-mail. While you might not have an urgent need for a hundred or so buttons for yourself (though then again you might), you may be able to put together a bulk order with some friends. If you'd like to have the buttons for a group order pre-sorted, please put each person's order on a separate list with that person's name. QUANTITY CUSTOM BUTTONS If you want at least 30 of a button that isn't listed in the catalogue, they cost the same thing as the catalogue buttons. To get that price rather than the custom price, either the background or the lettering must be black, red, green, blue, brown, or burgundy, and the other color must be white, yellow, green, blue, red, lavender, parchment, pink, or goldenrod. The second color may be assorted, but the first color must be the same for the whole batch. CUSTOM BUTTONS If you want buttons with slogans that aren't in the catalogue, I do calligraphic buttons with any slogan you want (within wide limits of length and taste). They cost $3 each, plus 25 cents extra for ink other than black, each 5 words after the first 10, or circular layout. If you want three or more of the same custom button (paper color may vary, but not the other features), then subtract 50 cents from the cost of each button. Custom buttons may be ordered in your choice of paper color, ink color, and lettering style. If you want to leave any of the features up to me, just say so --I'll basically choose for legibility and appropriate style. INK COLORS: black, white, red, blue, yellow, green, and brown. Metallic inks: gold, silver, copper, red, blue, yellow-green, blue-green, pink, and lavender. Dayglo inks: red-orange, orange, yellow, blue, green, and pink. PAPER COLORS (arranged from light to dark in each hue--black ink is hard to read on the darker colors): wheat, tan, and brown; light pink, pink, red, and blood red; goldenrod, orange, and red-orange; pale yellow and yellow; pale green, grass green, forest green, and dark velvet green; powder blue, sky blue, ocean blue, wedgewood, royal blue, dark warm blue, and navy; pale lavender, violet, fuschia, red purple, and blue purple; white, light gray, medium gray, dark gray, and black. Foils: gold, silver, red, copper, green, pale blue, royal blue, and purple. Parchments: antique gold, white, gray, pale brown, pink, turquoise, and lavender. Dayglo papers: are red-orange, orange, yellow, pink, and green. LETTERING STYLES: If you'd like to see what the lettering styles look like, drop me a note and I'll mail you some samples. FOUNDATIONAL--the style most similar to type, and the easiest to read ITALIC--somewhat narrow and slanted VERTICAL ITALIC--narrow but not slanted GOTHIC--also called Old English or blackletter. It's narrow and spikey and not quite as legible as the first styles I've mentioned, but it's nice for archaic, religious or evil sentiments RUNIC--a style composed completely of vertical and diagonal lines. It was invented by Vikings to carve on wood without having to carve across the grain. It's fairly legible. HALF UNCIAL--an archaic style with very thin horizontals based on seventh century Irish calligraphy. It's the least legible style I offer, but it's pretty. FULL UNCIAL--this one's hard to describe--it's archaic, but easy to read. The letters are round, the horizontals are about as thick as the verticals, and some of the small letters are non-standard but comprehensible. LEGEND STYLE--based loosely on Arabic writing. The ascenders (the long strokes on such letters as b and l) are very long, and the capitals are freely written and a little flashy. RUSTIC--narrow capitals with thin verticals and heavy horizontals ORIENTAL--loosely based on oriental brush-writing ROTUNDA--the Gothic of southern Europe. The letters are pointed but not narrow. Reasonably easy to read. ROMAN CAPITALS--pretty much like standard type face capitals TYPEWRITER--the strokes are of equal thickness and the serifs (the little additions to the ends of the main strokes of a letter) are straight. BLOCK LETTERS--very plain letters without serifs NEULAND--rather solid letters. The horizontals and verticals are both thick and their ends are squared off. This is a good style for buttons with attitude.
